On Thursday 22 October, CryptoUK and The Digital Chamber co-hosted a live webinar to introduce plans for a new UK–US Cross-Border Policy Working Group, a joint initiative aimed at strengthening transatlantic cooperation on digital asset policy and regulation.

Bringing together members of both associations, the webinar explored the evolving regulatory landscapes in the UK and US, the challenges facing businesses operating across both markets, and the opportunities for greater industry collaboration to support innovation, investment and growth.

The discussion was moderated by Ian Taylor, Board Director at CryptoUK, who was joined by Zunera Mazhar, Vice President of Policy & Government Relations at The Digital Chamber; Nick Brooks, Policy Director at CryptoUK; Charlotte Hill, Partner at Katten; and Dean Sovolos, Chief Legal Officer at B2C2.

The panel examined recent regulatory and policy developments on both sides of the Atlantic, including the UK’s evolving FCA authorisation regime and ongoing US efforts to establish greater legislative and regulatory certainty for digital assets. Speakers considered how differing regulatory approaches influence commercial decisions, market access and international competitiveness, while highlighting practical challenges around banking access, stablecoins, tokenisation and cross-border regulatory recognition.

A recurring theme was the importance of regulatory interoperability: ensuring that different regulatory frameworks can work effectively alongside one another, without necessarily requiring identical rules. The discussion highlighted how reducing unnecessary regulatory friction could make it easier for businesses to operate across jurisdictions while maintaining high standards of oversight and consumer protection.

Members of CryptoUK and The Digital Chamber were invited to participate in the live webinar and put questions directly to the panel. The Q&A explored issues including technical versus regulatory interoperability, cooperation between UK and US policymakers, and the implications of different approaches to stablecoin regulation. These exchanges also provided valuable perspectives on the issues that the proposed working group could prioritise.

Building on this discussion, CryptoUK and The Digital Chamber are preparing to establish the UK–US Cross-Border Policy Working Group as a dedicated forum for members to collaborate on shared policy challenges, engage with policymakers and regulators, and develop practical recommendations that support greater cross-border cooperation.

The ambition is to move beyond high-level policy discussions and deliver tangible outcomes for the industry. Potential areas of focus include stablecoin regulation and settlement, banking access, cross-border liquidity and regulatory recognition, with the group’s priorities to be shaped by the organisations participating in the initiative.

The full webinar recording is available below, providing an opportunity to hear the discussion and audience Q&A in full.
