The Work of the Previous Crypto and Digital Assets APPG

From 2022 until Parliament’s dissolution in 2024, the Crypto and Digital Assets All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) played a central role in advancing debate around the UK’s ambition to become a global hub for crypto and digital assets.

Over its two years of activity, the APPG provided an essential forum in Parliament for discussion, evidence gathering and collaboration between policymakers, regulators, industry and other stakeholders. Its work focused on ensuring that Parliament had access to balanced insights into emerging technologies including crypto, digital assets, blockchain, Web3 and AI, while highlighting the opportunities they bring for innovation, economic growth, and financial inclusion.

Through a series of meetings, receptions and inquiries, the Group helped advance dialogue on the UK’s regulatory approach to cryptoassets, called for greater clarity and proportionality in regulation, and emphasised the importance of supporting firms with access to essential financial infrastructure. The APPG’s legacy is one of engagement, collaboration and momentum – ensuring that the UK’s vision to be a leader in this fast-evolving sector remains firmly on the policy agenda.
