Crypto and Digital Assets All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) Industry Roundtable
  • 5 March, 2024

The Crypto and Digital Assets All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) Industry Roundtable on 4 March 2024 brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and parliamentarians in Westminster for an invite-only discussion on the UK’s progress towards becoming a global crypto hub.

Chaired by Dr Lisa Cameron MP, the session reflected on the APPG’s 2023 report and recommendations, examining the current state of the UK’s crypto and digital asset industry nearly two years after the Government outlined its vision. Key industry representatives, including Greengage, B2C2, and MoonPay, provided opening statements, setting the stage for discussions on regulatory developments, barriers to growth, and the challenges facing UK firms under the new financial promotions regime.

The conversation, which also included contributions from Lord Taylor of Warwick, Lord Cromwell, and Baroness Manzila Uddin, explored critical topics such as exchange-traded funds (ETFs), investment incentives, and regulatory clarity. The session concluded with a commitment from the APPG Chair and Officers to continue engaging with the Government, including following up with Economic Secretary Bim Afolami MP on Chancellor Jeremy Hunt’s commitment to meet with the APPG.

As Secretariat of the APPG, CryptoUK and its members remain dedicated to supporting these efforts, ensuring that UK firms are not disadvantaged by evolving regulations and advocating for a competitive, innovation-friendly crypto ecosystem.
