On Wednesday 14 September, CryptoUK partnered with our members Citigate Dewe Rogerson and Paul Hastings to host our autumn member networking event, hosting a panel discussion on ‘Will Crypto Replace or Complement the Existing Financial System’.

The panel was moderated by Jack Denton, Reporter at Barron’s and MarketWatch. We were joined on the evening by panellists Keld van Schreven, Co-Founder and Managing Director of publicly listed digital asset VC KR1 plc; James Butterfill, Head of Research at publicly listed digital asset investment firm CoinShares; and Marcus Sotiriou, Analyst at publicly listed digital asset broker GlobalBlock.

The discussion focused on:

• What types of protocols and crypto projects have the potential to displace legacy financial systems
• What could prevent blockchains from being a major force in financial innovation
• Will regulators stifle or foster digital assets and blockchain
