The HMT Cryptoasset Engagement Roundtable on 8 March 2023 marked a key moment in ongoing regulatory discussions, with CryptoUK invited by the Economic Secretary to the Treasury to participate in this industry consultation session.

The roundtable was part of a planned series of engagements following HM Treasury’s consultation paper, published on 1 February 2023, which outlined proposals to bring a broad range of cryptoasset activities within the UK regulatory framework under the principle of “same risk, same regulatory outcome.”

As the voice of its members, CryptoUK contributed industry insights and concerns, ensuring that the diverse perspectives of the UK’s crypto community were effectively represented. Members were also invited to submit feedback ahead of the session, helping to shape the discussion on key regulatory challenges and opportunities.

CryptoUK remains committed to engaging with the Government throughout this consultation process, advocating for a balanced regulatory framework that supports innovation while maintaining robust consumer protections.
