The Crypto and Digital Assets All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) has welcomed the publication of joint recommendations from HM Treasury and the U.S. Department of the Treasury through the Transatlantic Taskforce for the Markets of the Future.
The recommendations set out a roadmap for closer UK-US collaboration on digital assets, stablecoins, tokenisation and capital markets, alongside greater cooperation between regulators to strengthen innovation, competitiveness and cross-border market access.
The Transatlantic Taskforce for the Markets of the Future was launched by UK Chancellor Rachel Reeves and U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent in September 2025 to strengthen UK-US cooperation on the future of financial services. The Taskforce was established to develop recommendations to deepen collaboration on digital assets, tokenisation and capital markets, reduce regulatory fragmentation, improve cross-border market access, and support innovation through closer engagement between governments, regulators and industry.
Earlier this year, the Crypto and Digital Assets APPG brought together senior UK and US digital asset industry leaders from The Digital Chamber and CryptoUK in the UK Parliament to explore opportunities to strengthen UK-US cooperation on digital assets.
The Crypto and Digital Assets APPG is Westminster’s leading cross-party group of parliamentarians focused on supporting the development of the UK’s crypto and digital assets sector and helping ensure the UK becomes a global leader in digital finance and innovation.
Welcoming the announcement, APPG Co-Chairs Lord Vaizey of Didcot and Gurinder Singh Josan CBE MP said:
“We strongly welcome the joint recommendations from HM Treasury and the U.S. Department of the Treasury, together with the UK-US Joint Statement on Stablecoins. This is a significant and timely development, coming just weeks after the UK published its final rules and guidance for its new cryptoasset regime and as the United States continues to advance its own approach to digital asset regulation.”
“Greater cooperation and alignment between the UK and US on digital assets has the potential to provide businesses with greater regulatory clarity, reduce unnecessary cross-border friction and unlock investment, innovation and growth across two of the world’s leading financial centres. It also reflects a shared determination to keep the UK and US at the forefront of digital assets and financial innovation.”
“The announcement also recognises that digital assets are global by nature. As regulatory frameworks develop around the world, closer international cooperation will be essential to reduce fragmentation, promote greater alignment where appropriate and help shape high-quality global standards that give businesses the confidence to innovate and grow across borders.”
“The Crypto and Digital Assets APPG has consistently championed greater international engagement. Earlier this year, the APPG welcomed a delegation of senior UK and US digital asset industry leaders from The Digital Chamber and CryptoUK to Parliament to explore opportunities to strengthen UK-US collaboration.”
“We look forward to seeing these recommendations translated into practical outcomes and to continuing to support constructive engagement between Parliament, government, regulators and industry as the UK works with international partners to shape the future of digital assets and financial services.”
The APPG will continue to support engagement between Parliament, government, regulators and industry as the UK and US take forward the Taskforce’s recommendations. The APPG will continue to champion greater international cooperation on digital assets and work with stakeholders to help ensure the UK remains at the forefront of responsible innovation, investment and financial services.
