CryptoUK Responses to FCA Guidance Consultations GC26/4 (COREPRU 7) and GC26/5 (CRYPTOPRU 7)

CryptoUK has responded to the FCA’s two guidance consultations on the overall risk assessment requirements in COREPRU 7 and CRYPTOPRU 7.

The responses broadly welcome the publication of non-Handbook guidance, recognising that it will help firms understand how prudential assessments should connect business model analysis, material risks, own funds and liquid-asset thresholds, stress testing, recovery actions and wind-down planning. CryptoUK’s central recommendation is that the final guidance should make proportionality more visible and should treat examples as illustrative rather than prescriptive, so that firms can evidence their own judgement against their business model, scale and risk profile. For CRYPTOPRU firms in particular, CryptoUK also calls for more crypto-specific worked examples on issues such as group dependencies, trading venues, settlement rails, non-core liquid assets, tokenised asset realisability and 90-day stressed cashflow forecasting.
